For those who have forgotten me – I am still here, and really not sure why I stopped blogging as I have still been making cards so have lots to share – will try get back into all again.

Well I want to share this card with you as its really pretty, and part of a mega bundle, click the link to see more

The kits come with main card base, backing paper, pyramage layers and an all in one sheet envelope!

I trimmed the card base and then used stick and stay to glue the sheet to white 300gsm card, and I did the same with the base layer of the pyramage, I also used the backing paper on the back of the pyramage piece as it looks prettier from the back than plain white card.

The card is really easy to do, there are several lines printed so I just scored them all and following M or V folds gives the Upright Diamond Fold card, the folds simply push towards the centre which then forms the diamond shape

I cut out the 4 shaped pyramage pieces and used 1mm pads to build up.

To finish I added 3 pretty yellow gems for the centre of the flowers, tied a bow using lemon satin ribbon and placed it below the flowers, then used an X-Cut butterfly punch to punch 4 lemon and 4 pale blue Bazzill cardstock, I then stuck one lemon and one pale blue back to back using a little cosmic shimmer pva glue.

The 2 lemon facing butterflies were stuck to the card but the blue were just tucked in.

The envelope was cut out and scored then folded on printed lines.

Big Sister

Good evening

I can now share a card I made recently for a little girl who is now a big sister after their mummy brought home a new baby boy last week

The sheet was designed by Angela Wake, it didn’t have much scope to add my own touch to the card which is the only downside with a lot of these sheets

I used a 6x6 scalloped card blank and after cutting out the main image it was stuck to the card front with pva glue then set aside for 15 minutes to set 

The decoupage was then cut out and I used tiny sticky pads to build up the 3d effect.

This was an easy card to make as it has 2 large panels and then just a little decoupage so good for anyone hating the cutting out. 

Before I printed out the sheet I used the blank tag to add Big Sister Lexi... and once I had the insert in I wrote it to the 3 year old then put it into its own envelope and was sent with Lexi’s name and address on! 

I’m sorry but there really isn’t a great deal more I can say about the card except I have had a message from the new mum to say the cards arrived safely and Lexi had loved having mail just for her!

Pretty Pink Shoes

Hello

Got a super duper card for today – in fact I used the same kit and created 2 cards which are very similar to each other

I started with a sheet of white card measuring 16”x8” and used an 8x8 embossing folder to emboss one side of the card, then I scored along the centre, folded and that is my card blank created.

Last week I bought myself a set of Faber-Castell Mix & Match Gelatos and haven’t yet had a chance to play with them, but because I had a fab embossed back ground I used a cotton wool pad which I sprayed with some Avon lemon room spray and set to a side for a moment

I used 3 coloured Gelatos, a pink, lilac and purple, I lightly ran each colour randomly around the edges of the card, then used the cotton wool pads and gently rubbed it all over the embossed part of the card, I loved how it was varying shades of colour – and the card smells yummy too!

I cut out the main image – which by the way the info for the kit – it was designed by Janet Roberts and has 3 sheets to the kit, the main front sheet, the single insert panel and the decoupage elements, and it is all so easy to cut out!

So the main panel was cut out and I used 2 A5 sheets of silver mirri card, one was plain and the other embossed with hearts, so I trimmed them both down and added the piece with hearts to the top half of the panel and the plain silver to the bottom, leaving the famous all round border.

Using double sided tape I stuck my panel to the card sort of to the right and bottom corner.

Using the bow making I created a double bow from some beautiful lilac organza ribbon with a satin edge, I cut the tails into V shapes and stuck the bow to the top left corner with a sticky dot. The heart shaped Birthday Girl sentiment was cut out and placed directly under the bow, I used double sided sticky pads to do that then added a tiny sticky dot on each of the ribbon tails and positioned these around the heart.

The decoupage was cut out and added to the panel with double sided pads.

A few months ago I had a magazine with the free gift being a die – I haven’t given it a 2^nd glance until today when I was going through my dies looking for some pretty flowers for the card

So I cut out the panel 3 times – so it was 3 large, 3 small and 3 leaves in lilac 300gsm card and I used a Tattered Lace leaf die which I cut out of white card. I stuck the 3 larger flowers in the bottom left corner using cosmic shimmer pva to hold them in place, a dot of pva was added to one end of the leaves, both the white and the lilac and then gently pushed under the flowers.

The 3 smaller flowers were placed in the top right corner in the same way and had leaves added too.

To finish my card I added a big blob of pva to the inside of the larger flowers and carefully dropped a 10mm lilac AB gem into it. For the small flowers I had bought a pack of pretty cerise pink aluminium roses from Hong Kong and I though the darker shade made the card.

The insert was trimmed and stuck inside the card using double sided tape.

I made a 2^nd card which is along the same lines but this time I made it a landscape card and changed the position of the flowers as well as changing the amount....

So there we go – my card for today.

I have entered the card into my Card Challenge Competition and will be posting this card out to a young girl who will be 16 next week, suffers from Aspergers Syndrome and her proud mum has asked people to send her cards and make her day extra special – mum said daughter would be lucky to get even 4 cards so was hoping her request might see the daughter receive 16 as that’s how old she will be – that number has been walked all over so now its set at 116 cards, if you want to help and send her a card I have the young ladies postal details

In The Bag

I won’t apologise as this missing days is happening all too often just now – I haven’t been too well and not had any real interest in crafting

Yesterday I caught the train over to Grimsby and headed off to Wilko’s my favourite shop for a good bargain, managed to get my main toiletries for my holidays and a few stationery bits and bobs too

But my best buy was a foam bag kit – the kit had 2 funky foam handbags to make up – the kit included the nylon cord, 2 needles, 2 long plaited pink handles and of course the 3 pieces needed for each bag,

I know I am a child at times, but I couldn’t wait to make a start on the bags – I started with the lilac one – the stitch is a simple over stitch which I felt might have been a tad difficult for a child to do seen as these were aimed at 6+

I think it took me around 15 mins to complete the bag

On to the pink bag – I sewed one side only to find I wouldn’t have enough cord to do the other side so had to take it all out and I used some white dk wool that had a cotton lustre running through it, it worked – but not as good as the cord did,

One other thing I will mention – the kits are well packed – but that isn’t such a good thing as the flowers and studs have embedded into the foam, I have tried to warm the foam with the heat gun in the hope the indents would disappear but nope they are still there!!!

To sum up then, the kit was just 99p for 2 pretty bags – downside was the shortage of cord and the indents, but just think how exciting a little girls birthday party could be if they each had one of these to make and take away!! Cheap entertainment in my mind!

Butterflies & Flowers

As soon as I bought this pad of sheets I couldn’t wait to make up this sheet – it was a mixture of pretty colours and the butterflies. I have scanned the sheet and copied the butterfly which was for the decoupage so I had 2 for the finished card.

The sheets were from a card making pad I bought from Joann Sheen, it’s called Jody Bergsma, and the artwork really is amazing. 

I created an easel card measuring 6x6 inches (15x15cm) from some lovely card I have which is smooth white on one side and shiny creamy colour on the other side, I used the white side showing for the card. 

As this is an easel I needed an extra piece of card the same size, this was then put through the Big Shot in a 6x6 pretty floral embossing folder, it left panels of flowers which really look pretty – but there are no makings on the folder so maybe it was a free gift on a magazine...

Right then, I used Tim Holtz distress ink pad in dried marigold to ink the edges of the embossed panel and then I lightly inked over the embossed sections. I then decided to ink the edges of the entire card so used the same colour.

 

Next I added strong double sided tape the flap of the easel then pressed the embossed panel against it. Using the red tape again I ran the tape along all sides of topper then pressed it centrally onto the embossed panel, this covered most of the embossing but that wasn’t so important as the embossing showed clearly on the back of the card 

Because the card I was using was bigger than the 6x6 I needed I was left with a couple of strips of card so put one into the embossing folder lining it up with the flowers and put that through the Bog Shot, once embossed I used the dried marigold ink and coloured the panel making sure the edges were a deeper colour than the flowers. 

I added very thick, very wide foam tape to the back of the single panel and put to one side as this was to be my stopper.

I printed out some backing papers for different cds but in the end I decided I liked the mid green with tiny white hearts on, it was from a set of sheets I had called Wee Stamps Decoupage Set

So I trimmed this paper down to fit the base of my card leaving a narrow border all round the card to show the orange, I used double sided tape to hold the paper to the base card.

Taking the floral panel I removed the backing tape and secured the panel where I wanted it to act as my stopper and just below that I added the With Love sentiment which again I used thick foam tape.

I cut out the 2 butterflies I had made and stuck them back to back and inked all around using the dried marigold ink again.

And then to finish I used orange stickles which I used to add a blob to the centre of the flowers on the stopper panel, I used the stickles to decorate the back to back butterfly wings then creased either side of the body to lift the wings and added more stickles to stick the butterfly to the top right corner.

On the sheet is a small square the same as the main topper so I cut it out and added to the back of the easel – no point throwing it away as it fitted there perfectly....

So there we are – a pretty butterfly and embossed flowers easel card! As it has the simple sentiment With Love it’s perfect for most occasions don’t you think?

Red Sneakers

Good Morning

It was lovely opening the curtains to sunshine....it’s a little over cast just now but hopefully the sun will burn through as the morning passes, after all it is only a little after 10.15am.

Ok so this is the 2^nd card I made yesterday, it was using the fab sneakers stamps again – oh I love this set.

Making the card I used a sheet of white A4 card which was folded in half making my A5 card, I used it as a tent fold card this time. I came across an A4 sheet of shiny red card, it’s not mirri card just a high gloss card, so I cut a piece to cover the base card leaving a narrow border, then cut a piece of silver mirri card again leaving a narrow border all around. 

I used smooth white card cut to 19.5x13.5 cms and the back ground sneakers stamp, I stamped this twice and then had to ink just the edge of the stamp to cover the card, I stuck this to the card using double sided tape and put to one side for now.

I cut another piece of white card that measured approx 14x10.5 cms. I stamped the sneakers in the centre of the card and again onto the piece of card that was left over after the background and main panel were cut. I coloured the sneakers on the spare card using Poppy Pro Marker, I went over the stitching using the same pen 2 or 3 times to make it darker. This was then cut out and I used tiny sticky pads to attach the coloured sneakers to the stamped image.

I thought the panel looked bare so began searching through stamps for something to use as a border and eventually came across a small pack of 4 border stamps that had been a free gift on a magazine, I was sure I would never use them but the rik rak looked perfect so stuck it to my acrylic block and stamped along the short side only to find the stamp hadn’t been put on the block straight but after looking at it again I quite liked the wobble so carried on and did all the edges using Black Versafine ink pad.

This panel was then matted onto a piece if the red shiny card, I covered the back with tiny sticky pads and added this to the card on an angle, when I had stamped the background I found a few places where the ink wasn’t as dark so the topper was perfect to hide that. 

Next I started colouring the tiny sneakers, I used my lovely Derwent Inktense watercolour pencils and Pentel water brushes as I didn’t want then as red as the main image with them being the background. By adding the topper before I coloured the background I didn’t waste time and effort colouring what would then be covered up with the topper.

And the last part was the sentiment – no matter how many time I stamps this out, or what inks I use it always looks quite faded and blotchy so I think that’s how it’s meant to look, so once stamped I trimmed it down and matted it onto the last scrap of shiny red card, this was then stuck across the top left corner of the topper.

I am now undecided as to decoration – I don’t want to overdo it, don’t want to add sparkle or gems so really all I could do is add some glossy accents...but for now I have just left it.

So, do you like the red sneakers? I think the stamp is perfect for any colour really – in the set I had the small circle and a choice of star, heart or leaf to go in the middle, Converse I believe had the circle with star inside and after looking them up they come in every colour imaginable!

Right time to look at tidying up my room again – I am the only person that uses this room but I do wonder how and why it is always so untidy! Good job it only takes 15 mins or so to put everything away and create a workspace again!

Teal Butterfly

Hello again

Well today I have made 2 cards and couldn’t decide which to share 1^st but as one was similar to one I had previously made I decided on the teal Butterfly card

This was a sheet I came across in one of the folders – sometimes it’s like Christmas coming across a folder of sheets and kits I had forgotten about...

I’m afraid I don’t know the sheet maker or where it came from.

For a change I used coloured card – this was a pale green adorable scorable card which I folded in half. Something else I have had for far too long is a bundle of beautiful coloured card that has silver chunks embedded in it – so I used a pale pink, this was trimmed to fit onto the main card leaving a border all round.

I cut the main image from the sheet and used a pale green pro marker to colour the edges then stuck this panel onto the pink mat.

The beautiful flower come in 2 sections so they were cut and attached using sticky pads, the top flower was shaped before being stuck in place.

Next it was the butterfly – this had 2 identical butterfly sections and I did consider doing back to back but then went for the normal one on top of the other.

The sheet offered 3 sentiments so I used the happy birthday, this was also attached with sticky pads.

Now my favourite part – decoration!

For the centre of the flower I used purple accent beads on and then around those I used a deep pink. To attach the accent beads I used blobs of pva glue, this can take around 4 hours to set hard.

I used some tiny pearl gems and pva held them in place on the pretty flowers, then I used a pretty green Stickles glitter glue to add dots f colour around the flowers and then the same again with a crystal Stickles this time added dots to the large flower too.

The Crystal Stickles was laid thickly along the butterfly body and again this takes time to dry

And lastly the sentiment, I used dusty pink Stickles and dotted around the edge.

Not sure why but this card really appeals to me – I think its the rich colour of the butterfly

Get Well Cuppa

Hiya

Bit of a cop out tonight I think because I have just cut these on the Cameo so all i was left to do was stick them together, add a ribbon and knot and a few sparkly gems.

I used 2 shades of orange card – this is a heavy textured card, very similar to Bazill card – I seem to this is Core Color by Core’dinations. I cut the first card and decoration then decided I needed to cut again using a different colour which has worked quite well because I now have too lovely Get Well cards in colours that make me smile – they look all summery don’t you think?

Not quite sure why but both the cards have an overhang which is ok but I didn’t like the spine left open so needed to add the length of brown ribbon with white dots, I added a piece of sellotape to the ends and stuck down firmly inside the card.

I cut another length of the same ribbon, folded it in half and slotted it through the border ribbon, tied into a know then cut both long pieces shorter and added the V finish.

The 3 flowers of the cup design simply had a blob of Cosmic Shimmer pva added then the gem was placed over the glue to dry

Another bonus was the letters that were left from the card – I now have Get well Soon in orange and tangerine for future use.

Sorry I haven’t done anything exciting to share but I am so tired, have a niggly headache and my legs are driving me crazy still.

Today I have walked just under 10 miles and also swam 26 lengths of the pool so it’s been a good day!

Pink Sneakers

I had some new stamps arrive so couldn’t wait to have a play with them

They are by Woodware and I have the main stamp and sentiment and the background stamp.

I started by creating an easel card using white card, I was using the blue Easiscore board so with the short sides at the left and right i scored along line 7, spun the card so the long sides were now at left and right and scored again down line 7 – this excess was chopped off but put to one side. Next I folded one side in half making the base of the easel card.

Using a sheet of pink card I cut a panel to fit on the top fold, used the nip corner punch and then stuck this to the easel fold using double sided tape. Next I cut a piece of white card approx 14x14cm and stamped the main image in the centre. I used Blossom pro marker to colour the Sneakers then nipped the corners and used the blossom pen to colour a border all around the card – I went round twice so it was darker than the pink mat. This panel was then stuck to the pink panel and left a narrow border all around the panel.

 

For the base of the easel I trimmed a piece of pink card to fit the base of the card, nipped the corners then stuck in place using double sided tape.

 

Another white panel – 14x14cm – was cut and had the corners nipped, then I stamped the big background stamp all over using blank Versafine ink. Once the ink had dried I used the Blossom pro marker to colour in the tiny sneakers.

I also stamps some more onto one piece of the extra card I cut at the start...

Using the pink card I cut a piece that was the width of the card and about 5cm deep, I used a Tonic border punch to punch a border along both long edges and then stuck this across the centre of the card.

I stamped the sentiment using Black Versafine ink onto the last scrap of white card, trimmed it down then ran the Blossom pen around it before adding thick foam tape to the back and finally positioning it in the centre of the pink panel.

I coloured the odd sneakers that I had stamped onto the scrap card – then used 2 at each side of the sentiment so they were facing each other.

I would like to say the card is finished – but it doesn’t look it!! I feel it needs something on the main image panel but have no idea as to what – have you??

I will use some glossy accents on the main sneakers but wanted to get it shared before I forgot!!!

Would love to hear what you think to the card and also if you can suggest something/anything to go on the main panel – or does it not need anything else?

Mothers Day Plaques

I do hope all you mums had a lovely Mothers Day and were spoilt from start to finish – I know I was, I received so many beautiful gifts I came over all emotional.

Anyway, I had bought some lovely mdf plaques that I decorated so the grandchildren could surprise their mums, I popped one in the post to my son so he could hide it away and then my 3 grand children could sign the back and make it extra special.

And I made one for Best Mum and one for Best Auntie which I gave to Layton to give to his mum and Auntie Nicky who is like his mum number 2

So as I think you all know, the mdf items come bare so they can be decorated in any way you like.

I started by dabbing a piece of foam into the flitter glue then dabbed it all around the outer edges, the flower shape, then for the Mum plaque I covered with Silver gilding flakes and the Auntie with Variegated red gilding flakes, the excess is rubbed away with a rough spongy thing (cannot remember its name) and that then produces the fantastic rich shine – looks great when the sunshine hits it!

I really didn’t know how I wanted to decorate the lettering and after much thought I decided to go all glittery! Neither mum nor auntie have favourite colours so I decided to use a beautiful jade green for the Auntie plaque and a rose pink for the Mum plaque.

To get a good thick coating of glitter I used Cosmic Shimmer pva glue to completely cover the letters then sprinkled the glitter over the wet glue and lightly tapped away the excess then set them aside to dry – because the glue was so thick I allowed 24 hours before wrapping them up just so I didn’t spoil them.

Once they were dry I found a length of cream crafters rope so slotted it through the holes and tied a knot in the ends.

I simply wrapped each plaque in a sheet of tissue paper and wrote Mum on one and Auntie on the other – so as we did Mothers day on Saturday (because my daughter Nicky was working Sunday so would be home after I left)

Layton gave the gifts out and it was lovely as neither of the girls expected it. Nicky had bought a Pandora ring and charm for Vicky from Layton and Vicky bought a Pandora charm and ring for Nicky from Layton.

I have searched but cannot find the photo of the other mum plaque I made for my Daughter-in-Law so it must be on my mobile...as soon as I find photos I will share them
